Eat ( vegan ) duck soup

Why abstract “morning protocols” look like miracles — and what to do instead.

The Marx brothers hit upon the secret. It got suppressed. Almost a century later we can finally spill it.

Eat a bowl of vegan duck soup every morning for six months. Do that and your life — also your business — changes completely.

Why would that work? Because rituals are comforting. Soup first, then work. One less thing to decide. You’re “showing up.” Feels serious. Looks good in a carousel.

Really?

No.

But come on — the pitch still sounds deep. Achievable. Photographs beautifully on a sales page.

Broth does not write copy. Broth does not close a client. Broth will not ship the thing that’s been sitting in your Notion for nine months.

Here’s the bit people miss.

Call it the duck soup effect, because I’m not above a title gag.

Someone with a million followers shouts about soup. Ten thousand people try it. A few of them hit their numbers that half-year. Cue the testimonials.

Those few didn’t win because of the soup.

They already knew how to do the job. Skills. A real offer. Discipline on a boring Tuesday. Luck, sometimes a lot of it. The soup just rode along and took the credit. Correlation dressed up as causation — oldest trick in the creator catalogue.

Then the winners get wheeled out. Hard. You don’t meet the dead ducks: people who drank the soup, felt briefly organised, and quit by week three. Quietly. No thread. No refund drama. Just gone.

Rituals sell. Mechanics don’t. “Mindset.” “Metabolic anchors.” “Low-entropy mornings.” Gorgeous words. Spreadsheets, VAT, a demo that doesn’t fall over when Stripe fires — less gorgeous. So the feed fills with vegan duck soup. Same same old story boys. Tired advice in a nicer bowl, aimed at skeptics who think they’re too sharp for the original.

Big audience → some people succeed at whatever they try → testimonials forever. Is the soup cooked? Yeah. It’s cooked.

What actually moves a project is narrower and less photogenic.

Pick a concrete thing. A product. A service. A feature that exists by Friday. Ignore the general self-help pile unless it unblocks that thing today. Show it to a real person. Watch where it breaks. Fix that. Repeat until the breaks get smaller.

No broth required. Goal, relevant action, awkward feedback. That’s the meal.

I don’t sell magical soup. I won’t tell you two hours of clear thinking buys a million-dollar business.

I run Discovery Sprints. We cut the wandering. Roughly two months of fog into two weeks with a written scope, daily progress, and a demo you can actually click. Not another philosophy thread.

If you’re done with the echo chamber and want something shipped:
